Fife organisers hail success of fundraising 'Auld Lang Zoom' virtual Burns event

Over 500 tickets for last Friday night’s event were sold with a profit of £2121 collected for its charities.
Elaine Bowie, club past president, said people from as far away as Canada and America tuned in for the online celebration of Robert Burns, Scotland’s best loved poet, this year due to gatherings being banned under pandemic restrictions.

Hide AdThe programme featured local music, a rendition of Holy Willie's prayer, an appearance by Burntisland butcher, Tom Courts, who explained all about haggis and winners from local primary schools performed their winning Burns competition poems.
Elaine said: “We reached so many people and have had many positive responses. We reckon there might have been 700-800 people watching.
“People were impressed that different age groups from the local community were part of the entertainment and the whole evening programme was interspersed with clips of the work of Rotary.”
