“I know the owners were keen to see someone else buy the business but this was a surprise - they played their cards pretty close to their chests.”
The business was bought by owner Donald Murray in 2014 but, according to staff, custom dwindled significantly over the past two years.
“It was a big building and with the rates and the rents, it was a struggle to stand still,” an employee said.

“On a Friday night we used to get over 400 people and that was down to 100. People just don’t have the money in their pockets.”
Staff were last paid on Friday and are anxious to learn whether they will be paid any wages still due.
